Learning management & mandatory training software
Assign it. Learn it. Track it. Build courses with readings, videos and quizzes, let training assign and renew itself, and keep the compliance evidence auditors ask for - without buying a separate LMS.
CoDash Learning is a lightweight LMS inside your HR system. HR builds courses from readings, videos, documents and quizzes; assigns them to a person, a team, a department, a role or everyone; and mandatory training enrols new starters and renews expired completions automatically. Quizzes grade server-side, certificates file themselves in the certification register, and a compliance view with CSV export evidences it all.
Courses your team will actually finish
A course is a sequence of short sections: readings, images, videos, documents, links and quizzes. Video can be a YouTube or Vimeo embed or an uploaded file. People work through a proper course player with an outline, a progress bar and a due date - not a folder of PDFs. Every new CoDash instance ships with seven ready-made UK starter courses, from security awareness and GDPR essentials to running a good 1:1, each with researched content and a quiz, all editable.
Quizzes that mean something
Add a quiz to any course with single-answer and multi-answer questions and a configurable pass mark (80% by default). Grading happens on the server and the answer key is never sent to the browser - the result says which questions were wrong, not what the right answers were. Failed it? Retake until you pass; the course section only ticks off on a pass.
Mandatory training that runs itself
- Mandatory means everyone, enforced nightly - anyone missing a mandatory course is auto-enrolled with a 30-day deadline, including people hired after it was assigned.
- Annual refreshers without a calendar reminder - give a course a validity period and expired completions are re-assigned automatically; the old completion stays in the person's history, so training hours are never lost.
- Nudges and digests - overdue training reminds the person, and managers see who on their team is behind.
Certificates in the same register as first aid
Completing a certifying course files a certification in the company certification register automatically, with an expiry date when the course has one - alongside manually recorded certificates like first aid or food hygiene. The register already chases expiries, so renewals get chased too. Managers can attach evidence files to any certification.
Paths, teams and the numbers
- Learning paths - bundle courses into an ordered journey (say, a new-manager path) and assign the path as one thing.
- Team view - managers see their team's live progress and can nudge politely; delegation covers it when a manager is away.
- Training report - completions, training hours, overdue counts, certificates expiring soon and certifications held, split by team, department and course, exportable to CSV.
- Growth, together - suggest a course from inside a 1:1, link courses to the competencies in your career framework, and course suggestions land on the person's development plan and enrol them automatically.
Audit evidence, not a scramble
The compliance view lists every mandatory course and acknowledgement-required policy with completion counts, exactly who is outstanding, overdue counts and the next deadline - and exports to CSV. That is the completion evidence auditors ask for under ISO 27001 control A.6.3 (information security awareness, education and training), and the same view your board asks for the day after a phishing scare.
Taking training, self-enrolment, quizzes, certificates and the compliance view are in every plan - mandatory training is core HR, not an upsell. Course authoring, assignment, paths, the team view and training reports are part of the Growth plan.
Learning questions
How does CoDash handle mandatory training for new starters?
Mark a course as mandatory and CoDash treats it as meaning everyone, permanently. A nightly sweep enrols any active person who is missing it, including people who joined after it was assigned, with a 30-day deadline. Nobody has to remember to add new hires to the security training.
Can training renew automatically every year?
Yes. Give a mandatory course a validity period, for example 12 months, and when someone's completion expires CoDash re-assigns the course automatically with a new deadline. The previous completion is kept in their history, so training-hours reporting never loses the record.
Are CoDash quizzes cheat-proof?
Quiz answer keys never leave the server. The browser is sent the questions and options only, grading happens server-side, and the result says which questions were wrong, never what the right answers were. Each quiz has a configurable pass mark, 80% by default, and people can retake until they pass.
Does completing a course produce a certificate?
Courses can be flagged as certifying. Completing one files a certification in the company register automatically, with an expiry date if the course has a validity period, and the register sends expiry reminders. Certifications from training and manually recorded ones, such as first aid, live in the same place.
Can CoDash evidence training for an ISO 27001 audit?
The compliance view lists every mandatory course and required policy with completion counts, who is outstanding, overdue counts and next deadlines, and exports to CSV. That is the completion evidence auditors ask for under ISO 27001 control A.6.3, which covers information security awareness, education and training.
